Integration

Nimbus808 combines the publisher, broker, and subscriber functions well known in MQTT in a low cost, easy-to-use platform. No need to have a separate broker and dashboard application.

MQTT Overview

Designed to be light weight, open, and simple, MQTT is a subscriber/ publisher messaging transport protocol that is considered a great solution for applications where a small code footprint is required and/or network bandwidth is scarce.

It is particularly suitable for continuous monitoring of sensory data such as temperature, pressure, water level, energy monitoring, etc.

How MQTT works

MQTT allows topics, or data points, to be broken down in intuitive ways. A single data point can be assigned to multiple topics and one topic can contain more than one data point.

A project can be set-up to access/display multiple data points from a single MQTT enabled device (HMI, PLC). Allowing for the creation of an application monitoring one specific machine.

Or, a project can be set-up to access/display data from multiple devices all at the same time. This enables efficient and easy monitoring of conditions across an entire installed base of supported devices.

Why did we use MQTT?

We utilized MQTT because:

  • Distribute information more efficiently
  • Reduce network bandwidth consumption dramatically
  • Reduce update rates to seconds
  • Very well-suited for remote sensing and control
  • Extremely lightweight overhead
  • Very secure with permission-based security
  • Publish/subscribe protocol collects more data with less bandwidth compared to polling protocols

Scale from one device and user to a multi-layered SCADA system monitoring your entire facility with confidence knowing that your data is secure.

Intuitive interfaces and development tools make Nimbus808 a pleasure for developers, management, and operators to work with.

Nimbus808 tools and pricing are designed from the bottom-up to help your business scale its cloud solutions from pilot projects to turn-key solutions.
